.mpo support?

I just came from another forum for a image viewer in SteamVR for the HTC Vive. I am hoping to find a way to get his viewer to work with .mpo files. He explained to me he uses Unity for 3D, and that it only supports .png and .jpg images. Is there any plans to support .mpo 3D image files? Or is there a way to get you to support it?

I do a lot of my own 3D photography, and I can technically convert the .mpo's to stereo side-by-side jpg's. And as is, they look pretty incredible.. But I...
