GearVR Controls for Cardboard

Hello folks,

I use often my Gear VR for Cardboard Content (deactivated gearVR service).
So I want to use my own cardboard app with GearVR Controls, but with disabled GearVR-Service. Is this possible? Has someone experiencied such things with it?
