Cardboard + Controller Problem

I feel like there is a simple solution to this. All I want is to make my first person controller move in the direction that i look. shadowgun VR does this no problem and i have no idea how to get this to work, right now when i test on my phone using the VK Moga controller i can move forward but when i look in another direction i have to move the stick left to go "forward".
